Two Weeks Into Things...
Just a quick update. As of yesterday morning, after 13 full VLCD days, I've lost 24.6 pounds! I'm so excited. I just wanted to encourage all of you who are on this same journey!
There is an old saying that goes, "The journey of a thousand steps begins with just one." Well, I think I've re-started this journey countless times throughout my life. Each time with a certain degree of short-lived success.
I'm sure any of my readers who've struggle with weight problems, or more accurately in my case "morbid obesity", can identify. The myriad of new fad diets, the feeling of self-deprivation and starvation, unfulfilled self-promises... the constant feelings of failure.
I've done South Beach, Atkins, Richard Simmons' Deal-A-Meal, the Daniel Fast, 1200 calories a day, 3 "normal" meals a day, 6 "small" meals a day, the Heart Healthy diet, the No Concentrated Sugar diet, eDiets, etc. I've hiked and backpacked, done Slim-in-6 six to seven days a week consistently for 6 weeks, walked-jogged 1-2 miles a day with a friend, done the treadmill and stationary bike routine, and am still fat! All it's ever done was cause me to fight bout after bout of feelings of failure. [More]
Hi, I'm Sandi! So, you actually want to know more about me? Well, here goes! I seem to be so good at multi-tasking & wear many hats! I'm a mom & grandma, one of the ministry leaders at Valley Word Church in Roanoke, Virginia, a freelance writer and a nurse. The Lord Jesus is my very reason for living. I have a background as an LPN and as a Tissue Recovery Team Leader (for the Organ & Tissue Recovery agency here in Virginia). But aside from that, I've worked all phases of construction from digging footers to plumbing to electrical to roofing. I've owned a lawn service, a feed store, and a house painting business. I've flipped lots of hamburgers; delivered pizzas, and I've even helped do some minor auto body repair (gotta love Bondo!) and painting a LONG time ago. I've been stranded in a raft in the Everglades overnight, traveled to 12 other countries...usually by myself, & have a goal to visit every country out there. (The more adventure, the better!) I have a passion for missions & am going back to Uganda Feb 2011 for 2 weeks.
